biography attitudinal healing back to bio
attitudinal healing is based on the belief that it is possible to choose peace rather than conflict, and love rather than fear.
the practice of attitudinal healing is applying twelve principles to our moment-to-moment, everyday lives • it is the practice of changing (healing) our attitudes so that we can find peace of mind; about letting go of painful, unhealthy, and fearful attitudes and letting in non-judgemental, healthy, and loving ones.
the 12 principles
01
the essence of our being is love
02
health is inner peace • healing is letting go of fear
03
giving and receiving are the same
04
we can let go of the past and the future
05
now is the only time there is and each instant is for giving
06
we can learn to love ourselves and others by forgiving rather than judging
07
we can become love finders rather than fault finders
08
we can choose and direct ourselves to be peaceful inside regardless of what is happening outside
09
we are students and teachers to each other
10
we can focus on the whole of life rather than the fragments
11
since love is eternal death need not be viewed as fearful
12
we can always perceive ourselves and others as either extending love or giving a call for help
history
The work of Attitudinal Healing began in 1975 under the guidance of Gerald Jampolsky, M.D. The purpose was to create a safe environment of support and trust where children with serious illness could express their deepest feelings. Here they could begin a process of letting go of the many fears associated with their illness and experience peace of mind.

In 1977 the Center for Attitudinal Healing was established in Tiburon, California. Since inception, the Center has provided services free of charge to all who wish to participate in its groups.

The Center for Attitudinal Healing, now located in Sausalito California, has provided a living model in support of individuals and families facing life- threatening illness, as well as others who desire to change their lives and the way they make choices. The Attitudinal Healing program model is designed to supplement traditional health care, and operates under the premise that true healing has a spiritual and emotional component that must be addressed. The Attitudinal Healing model is based on nonsectarian spiritual principles; its programs enable individuals to let go of the emotional pain and fear that usually accompany illness or crisis, and begin to lead a more fulfilling and peaceful life.

Attitudinal Healing Centers now exist around the world. Each center develops its own programs to serve the unique needs of its community. In some areas, support groups meet informally in the homes or offices of volunteer facilitators; in other areas centers are organized as non-profit corporations with paid staff and boards of directors. The work of Attitudinal healing has expanded into such diverse settings as prisons, schools, medical centers, war zones, developing countries and corporate workplaces.
