- ancillaries: these are secondary products, some of which are sold separately from the textbookthey are not included in the initial cost of the textbook • when an ancillary is bundled with the textbook, the cost of the textbook increases, so each ancillary use is priced separately, whether bundled or sold separately • (examples of ancillaries are: CD’s, flash cards, test booklets, posters, leveled readers, lab manuals and course packs) • if ancillaries are bundled with the textbook such as CD’s, workbooks, lab manuals and even website subscriptions can be included in the total unit count and priced at the textbook rate • for example: 200k textbooks, 100k CD’s, 100k workbooks, and 50k website subscriptions would total 450k units • ancillary items not bundled with the textbook are “non-program specific” materials these are billed separately while still using the textbook rate.
